Shared Connections

Investigative Journalism and Media Innovations
( 2024-07-01 — 2024-12-31 )

Creators from different media outlets and generations, along with their audiences, come together through a virtual network and direct engagement. “Newsroom on Wheels” events take place across various Lithuanian regions, accompanied by theatre-based activities. Ideas emerging from these dialogues are transformed into slow, educational journalism—sometimes incorporating elements of analytical, portrait, or even investigative reporting. The podcast “Sometimes (No) One Cares” is produced as part of the project, alongside video documentaries grounded in anthropological research.

About

During the project, the BENDRA.lt team produced 46 journalistic pieces – video stories, podcasts, newsletters, and analytical articles – which contributed to strengthening quality journalism and expanded the portal’s audience by one-third.

The initiative “Newsroom on Wheels” brought the creative team to various Lithuanian regions – Didžiasalis, Panemunė, Švenčionėliai, and Balbieriškis. The direct connection established with local communities laid the foundation for a visual anthropology series – authentic stories about life beyond the capital, where not only the content matters, but also the trust-based relationship with the audience.

The project also launched the podcast “Sometimes (No)One Cares” – an open space for discussion where journalists, experts, and representatives of vulnerable groups come together to address pressing media challenges and encourage more active public engagement in journalism.
