Media4Change is building a research and impact team: how are events in Palestine covered in news media?
Bring your analytical voice to an international research and impact team examining the portrayal of Palestine in news media. Apply by 29 June.
Media4Change is building an international research and impact team to examine how events in Palestine are portrayed in news media: which sources shape the tone of coverage, whose voices are heard, how language is used, which events, contexts and consequences remain outside the news agenda, and how actions, actors and responsibility are presented in reporting.
This work will involve news media monitoring, research design, analysis, coordination and the practical use of research findings. We aim to turn the findings into insights and recommendations for newsrooms, creating space for reflection, constructive dialogue and the strengthening of professional and ethical journalism practices.
About the role
We are looking for analytical people who want to contribute to a study that can serve as a mirror for newsrooms — supporting reflection on editorial practices and turning findings into insights, questions and possibilities for change.
Depending on your experience and interests, you may contribute in different ways: shaping the research design and methodology, coordinating parts of the monitoring process, analysing news media content, sources, narratives and framing, working with media monitoring tools, translating research findings into insights and recommendations for newsrooms, and developing ideas for how the study can be applied in news media practice.
Who are we looking for?
We especially welcome people with experience in media monitoring, discourse analysis, content analysis, human rights communication, conflict-sensitive reporting or similar research fields.
Experience working with media monitoring tools would also be an advantage.
Key information
This is a community-based, voluntary engagement within Media4Change.
The study will focus on news media in Lithuania and in the countries represented by researchers joining the study.
Our aim is not to stop at the research findings. We want them to serve as a basis for reflection, constructive dialogue and practical recommendations for newsrooms.
