A New Grant Scheme to Strengthen Journalism Where the Audience Connection Is Strongest – and Resources the Scarcest

This new subgranting scheme is designed to strengthen journalism in local and community contexts — where ties to audiences are closest, but resources are often limited.

Organizations and journalists with ambitious goals will be supported by professionals from across Europe. Mentors will help participants adapt proven models, share experience, and find answers to the most pressing challenges in their local context.

💡 Available subgrant: €16,000–€20,000
Funding is available for projects that aim to:
– increase audience reach,
– produce high-quality multimedia content,
– explore sustainable operating models,
– develop professional collaboration and networking.

📌 Eligible applicants:
– Independent, non-profit local media outlets
– Freelance journalists with at least five years of professional experience
– Civil society organizations working in the media sector

🧭 The support package includes funding, mentorship, and practical training.
